Standing ovation in the golden hall of the Szczecin Philharmonic
It was an evening to remember. The wonderful young instrumentalists of the 10th International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra proved their extraordinary musicality, talent and maturity. On stage, they were accompanied by the outstanding cellist Marcin Zdunik and ILYO’s excellent maestro Ayyub Guliyev.
After ILYO’s tremendous success at the Young Euro Classic festival in Berlin, where our young musicians faced the enormous pressure of the prestigious Konzerthaus stage, the time has come for the concert at the Szczecin Philharmonic, which has been ILYO's home for 10 years! The famous golden hall is therefore well known to our young instrumentalists, and the many hours spent on rehearsals and exercises made them feel at home here.
However, the final concert is the final concert. Again, the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra delighted the audience, and the numerous Szczeciners gathered at the concert rewarded the young musicians with a long and generous standing ovation.
ILYO 2022 has coped seamlessly with very difficult and ambitious works. Witold Lutosławski's Concerto for Cello and Orchestra is a piece not only requiring the highest mastery from the soloist, which was undoubtedly demonstrated by the phenomenal Marcin Zdunik both in Berlin and in Szczecin, but also the highest level of concentration from all members of the orchestra. In turn, Béla Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra is, musically speaking, enourmously demanding. The fantastic conductor Ayyub Guliyev led our orchestra through all the traps of this extremely difficult repertoire. ILYO 2022 has once again proved that the young musicians coming to Szczecin are true virtuosos and mature artists.
The concert ended with a banquet with the Director of the Szczecin Philharmonic – Dorota Serwa, the project manager – Mateusz Czarnowski, the conductor, the soloist and all our wonderful young instrumentalists. We handed out the certificates and officially closed this year's edition of the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra. However, we will not forget about it for long. Therefore, stay tuned to our website and ILYO’s official profile on Facebook, we will share with you a lot of interesting materials. So stay with us!
Ps. For those who would like to listen to the final concert online, please visit the official.
