Tomasz Szczęsny - cello - (Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra)
For 16 years he has been the cello concertmaster of Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and he is undoubtedly one of its most experienced musicians. He is also a renowned teacher and associate professor at the Academy of Art in Szczecin.
Tomasz Szczęsny is also a recognized chamber musician. In 2010, he performed in the famous Carnegie Hall in New York in a trio with Patrycja Piekutowska (violin) and Sławomir Wilk (piano). Since 2013, together with Eugen Prochać (Slovakia), Adam Javorkai (Hungary) and Petr Nouzovski (Czech Republic), he plays in the international Visegrad Cello Quartet. He is also a member of the ĘxQuartet string quartet, founded in 2018 with which he regularly performs and records albums.
During his long career, he worked closely with such artists as Roman Jabłoński, Kevin Kenner, Bartłomiej Nizioł, Patrycja Piekutowska, Anna Maria Staśkiewicz and Agata Szymczewska. He has also performed all over the world: in Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Czech Republic, Portugal, Spain, Croatia, Denmark, South Korea, USA, Italy, France, Slovakia and Hungary. He is also the author of transcriptions of Karol Szymanowski's songs, which, along with other Szymanowski's works, were released on the Karol Szymanowski. Works for cello and piano album album.
Tomasz Szczęsny graduated with honors from the cello class of prof. Stanisław Firlej of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław. He was also a scholarship holder of the City of Szczecin and the Society of Friends of Szczecin. He made his debut with the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra (1998), performing Eduard Lalo's Cello Concerto under the baton of Tomasz Bugaj. In 2014, he obtained a doctorate in musical arts. He plays on a Wojciech Top cello (Zakopane 2008).
